From egrets waking in the sweltering heat to grass mice boldly leaving their burrows at twilight, Fernlund and Libin share brief encounters of the desert, captured in vibrant watercolors (by Fernlund) and graphite illustrations (by Libin). A symbiotic relationship between a family of egrets feasting on bugs that pester a family of gentle buffalo is the anchor for this simple yet compelling story. Close friends for over a decade, this is Fernlund and Libin’s debut children’s book and first collaboration. Fernlund and Libin share a strong bond to the natural world, where adventure and wonder can always be found by the curious.

Solveig Fernlund, a native of Sweden, has been practicing architecture in New York since 1992, building projects both residential and commercial. Her practice includes teaching, drawing, painting, sewing, singing and writing music. Erasing the distinction between these fields allows for an expanded vocabulary and greater movement. Her work has been featured in numerous books and publications for example; New York Times Magazine, Apartmento, Casa Vogue, Honore. She was recently featured in an hour long documentary, Husdrömmar, for Swedish TV.

Milah Libin is a Brooklyn born and based interdisciplinary artist, and children’s librarian at the Brooklyn Public Library. Her personal practice includes publishing, writing, illustrating, filmmaking, curation, and photography. Libin is the founder and Editor in Chief of Dizzy Books, an art magazine, children's and art book publisher focused on bridging the gap between artists of all ages, backgrounds, and levels of exposure. She has shared her writing, art, and films at MoMA, Printed Matter, Entrance Gallery, Molasses Books, and KGB Bar, among others. Libin’s work has been featured in magazines including The New York Times, ArtNews, Interview Magazine, It's Nice That, Office Magazine, Polyester Zine, and more. She was included in Brooklyn Magazine's annual "30 Under 30" list.
