The Sylvia Briefs, 2020, Sebastian Acero

Dizzy is thrilled to present The Sylvia Briefs (2020) by artist and writer Sebastian Acero. Acero’s collages of transgender rights activist Sylvia Rivera are printed on organza fabric, delicately hand-stitched and fashioned into underwear briefs. The artwork honors and celebrates Rivera, co-founder of S.T.A.R (alongside Marsha P. Johnson), and prominent leader of the trans and gay liberation movement of the 1970s and onward. 

100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Marsha P. Johnson Institute in support of black trans people, and matched by both Sebastian Acero and Dizzy Magazine. The starting price is $100, or the option of $150 to include a personalized handwritten letter from the artist.

The one of a kind artwork will be presented and shipped in a wooden, double sided glass frame (17 × 21 inches), however can also be worn with care (size 6).
